Juanita Ulloa Wows Audiences in Mexico
with Her Sultry Voice

Bay Area based singer/composer Juanita Ulloa returned to Mexico City (where she grew up), in July, 2005 and gave several stunning performances and radio interviews. The visit was a preparation for the 2006 launching of her mariachi and bolero CDs in Mexico, “Mujeres y Mariachi” and “Mujeres”.

One of several highlight private performances including one where she shared the stage with famed Mexican composer, Ema Elena Valdelamar — best known for her Mexican boleros and song gems “Mil Besos”, “Mucho Corazon” and “Cheque en Blanco”, among others. The first two were beautifully sung by Ulloa’s mezzo-soprano voice and accompanied by guitarist, Elias Torres, and Ema Elena sang one song, “Cheque en blanco”. Ulloa also sang her own compositions plus Ema Elena’s first huapango entitled “Huapango Enamorado” which she wrote as a gift for Ulloa for her first mariachi CD, a lively song that, along with the others, is set to hit the airwaves in Mexico in September of 2006. Ema Elena and Ms. Ulloa shared the stage talking and exchanging charismatic and historical and quite entertaining introductions to each song.

A tribute concert to Ms. Valdelamar is being planned by Ulloa, both in the USA and in Mexico City, scheduled for September of 2006.

Ms. Ulloa was also interviewed by several radio stations during her visit with media coverage around four states in the Republic of Mexico (Ranchera 710 am, News and Jazz stations). Among other concerts being planned, IMER, Mexico’s Public Broadcasting Radio Network has offered to tape a live concert of the two women artists in 2006, transmitting it throughout the Mexican Republic. Her interviews drew many listeners to call in and speak with her directly after several of her songs were played during the broadcast for the first time in Mexico.

“Le felicito por su voz divina y me da mucho gusto saber que hay artistas en los EEUU que saben representar a Mexico en el exterior, que apoyan a lo mexicano y que Dios le bendiga”
(I love your magnificient voice and am so pleased to know that the USA has an artist that knows how to correctly represent Mexico when outside of their country, that supports Mexico, may God bless you), came from caller Araceli Martinez.

"Cuando quiero sentirme bien mexicano me pongo escucho a la voz Juanita Ulloa. Es un privilegio para dejarnos seducir por tu voz que es como un canto nos conmueve tanto que nos permite relajarnos y concelebrar. No me deja sentir solo. Sea en Mexico o en los EEUU me siento en casa con la voz de Juanita Ulloa". (When I want to go deep into my Mexican roots I listen to Juanita Ulloa's voice. It's a privelage to allow ourselves to be seduced by her voice-it allows us to relax and celebrate amongst each other. It keeps me from being lonely. Whether I am in Mexico or the USA I'm at home listening to Juanita!)
